Xiaomi Mi 5 India release date

xiaomi's recently-unveiled flagship smartphone Mi 5 will reportedly set foot in India next month.

Hugo Barra, Xiaomi's vice president (global operation), while hosting the launch event of Redmi Note 3 in New Delhi, confirmed that the new Xiaomi Mi 5 will be made available in India in April. However, he refrained from revealing the device's price and whether the company will offer all three Mi 5 variants.This is a welcome move by Xiaomi, considering that the previous flagship phone Mi 4 was released in India more than seven months after its official unveiling in China.

Just a few days ago, Xiaomi Mi 5 went on sale in China. The company said that it received a record 1.6 crore registration. Going by the Mi 5's feature-rich hardware, we expect it to garner similar response in India as well.

For the uninitiated, the new Xiaomi Mi5 series comes in three variants housing different storage and CPU configuration. The top-end model will be called Mi 5 Pro, which comes with Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM and 128GB inbuilt memory. On the other hand, the other two variants come with 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820+3GB+32GB and 1.8GHz Snapdragon+3GB RAM and 64GB storage.

Other specifications remain the same in all the three models. They come with 5.15-inch full HD display having fingerprint sensor at the bottom, which also doubles up as the home button, latest Android Marshmallow OS based MIUI v7.0, 16MP Sony IMX298 camera, 4MP snapper on the front, 3000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
